Bonsai originated in China which they call it penjing. Penjing is like a miniature landscape in a tray or slab.
Most Chinese artists prefer making bonsai by growing by seed, cuttings or grafting.
Early Chinese Bonsai artist prefer planting their bonsai in a rock and forming by tying the branches to make it look like a tree. Unlike today Aluminum Wires is widely used as it has better direction when branches are curved.
